Jail Bait will be racing on the Speed Network TV show PINKS! Filming will be October 26-27 in Alabama. Check back for information on air dates.
Here are some shots of the car we are building. We still can't decide whether to use the Pinto engine or the more powerful 1.9 liter Honda engine.

People have been asking me what I intended to do with the other car should I happen to win on the TV show PINKS!

Truth be told, I had not thought about it until recently.
I intend to auction the car on Ebay (AFTER the episode has aired), with all proceeds to benefit a stoke victim named Glenn Carter. Glenn is a man I am proud to call my friend, and here is his situation:

Glenn is a member of “The greatest generation,” the men and women who built this country into what it is today. Glenn was born in 1942 and worked on the family farm as soon as he was old enough to hold a hay fork. There were no video games, no MTV, just work and sweat. From there, he worked at the stockyards, weighing cattle, clerking, and whatever needed doing. There were no “job descriptions” then…just jobs.

Glenn is one of those rare, gifted men who can do anything with his hands. He combined the parts of 2 junk televisions to make one, so his family could have a television they could have otherwise afforded. Glenn could repair anything from air conditioners to motorcycles. He frequently did so for family, friends, neighbors, and even perfect strangers. He never asked for anything in return for his efforts. He did it because it was the right thing to do. How many men are there in this world with that attitude?

Glenn married his devoted wife, Antoinette, in 1960. They had 4 children. At one time, he had three children, whom he supported only $45 a week, living in a 3-room house with no hot water. Glenn did not complain. He just got up every morning and worked to support his family. That is what real men do.

Glenn Carter retired from Lily Tulip on December 15, 2006. At the time, his title was “Utility Man.” meaning he fixed what needed fixing and did what needed doing. His plan was to enjoy the retirement he had worked for all his life. He intended to pursue his hobby of knife making. He is one of the finest craftsman I have ever met. His makes all of his knives by hand, with a level of quality and detail I can only envy.

On January 9, 2007, only 25 days into his retirement, Glenn suffered a stroke. His doctors were surprised that he survived and especially that he retained as much mobility as he did. Unfortunately, Glenn retired too young for Medicare and his retirement benefits were quickly exhausted by the doctors and hospitals.

Here is the bottom line: Glenn needs money for quality medical evaluation and care. With enough help, Glenn can regain partial vision as well as the use of his hands so he can return to his hobby of knife making. Thus, all the money from the Pinks! auction will go to Glenn Carter. In addition, I am soliciting donations of auction items from all of my vendors. Ford Racing, Moro so, as well as MAC and MATCO tools have already pledged items for separate, but simultaneous auctions.

Why am I doing this? Two reasons really. First, Glenn is the sort of man who represents what a MAN should be. He looked people in the eye, spoke the truth, helped strangers in their time of need, and never once asked for any sort of reward. This man lives in the same world where “Rap Stars” make millions merely because they can make profane words rhyme. It is the RIGHT THING TO DO.

The other reason is Karma. What goes around comes around, and I look over my shoulder too much as it is.
